Q. Is there any difference between the structure of a movie and the structure of a TV episode?
A. Well, yes, because more often than not, these days a TV episode is what they call multi-stranded – which is jargon for meaning there are quite a few stories going on, which don't really have to meet very often, and which often don't resolve in any connected way. Unless you are writing a movie like ‘Crash’, or ‘Traffic’, it's still more usual in the cinema even today to have just one main story with every other story forming a critical part of this.
