Need Advice - Character Name
I am in the process of rewriting my first script in order to enter it into the Phoenix Film Festival. When I originally wrote the first draft (about a year ago), I chose Zak as the name of the main character and I titled the screenplay, Zak Goes Back to School. Since then, as you are all aware, Kevin Smith released, Zack and Miri Make a Porno. My husband thinks that I should completely change the name of the main character and screenplay title in light of Kevin Smith's film.
What are your thoughts? Thanks so much!

Re: Need Advice - Character Name
Give him a fun and different name.
Lane Lucas It actually takes me a few days to stick with a name, but then again why not stick with Zack? I don't think it matters that another movie has that name in it.

Re: Need Advice - Character Name
Hey Karen,
Yeah, I aree with Lynn. I don't think you'd have to change the name. Besides, it probably won't be produced until well after the buzz surrounding Smith's film has faded (it pretty much already has, right? lol). I don't think many people will make a connection just because of the names Zack/Zak. The title would have to be much more similar in order for there to be a similarity problem.

Re: Need Advice - Character Name
Thank you all so much for your feedback! I have really gotten attached to the name so I will probably keep it for now unless another name really inspires me.
