Default Marvel comics, PUNISHER, trailer is a masterpiece

Hi all,

Just saw the new trailer for Marvel's PUNISHER.
Looks like this movie(new version) will do well at the box-office.
Will it be bigger than THE DARK KNIGHT.
See the trailer and decide. I say maybe!
Here is the link --

Let's discuss.

Looks like a run-of-the-mill, beat-em-up, shoot-em-up movie with little or no real plot just a string of set piece fights strung together with a paper thin storyline. Bigger than the Dark Knight ? Very, very doubtful. The Punisher isn't exactly one of Marvel's best-known heroes, so they will be selling it on the action which wont appeal to everyone. The video clip played back quite badly on my PC for some reason, but the bits I heard were full of weak, juvenile language (sorry, but the term 'strong adult language' just does not appear in my vocabulary as to my mind foul language and swearing is neither strong, nor adult ) which, again, will not appeal to a huge audience. It may do well in its first weekend but once everyone sees it is just the usual, psychopathic vigilante style of movie attendance will drop off rapidly. It definitely isn't on my 'must see' list, even when it finally turns up on TV.

The Trailer looks great. I don't think it will out do Batman which is far better known.

QEXIT
The director and his team worked hard on this movie. It shows in the trailer.
The trailer is distinct and visionary. Sorry I disagree with your point of view.
When I read your post I thought you were describing another graphic novel coming to the big screen.

MARKON
Right on.
The news on the internet is that the public is raving about this trailer.
It will open big and slowly it might do well at the box office and become an unexpected return on investment.

Cheers!

With very few exceptions ALL directors and their teams work hard on their movies. Trailers are put together specifically to make the movie look good so that people will want to go and see it. The trailer for 'Speed Racer' was also distinct and visionary and it was excitedly discussed by the public, but the finished product was declared very lack-lustre by public and critics alike once they actually got to see the whole film.

Not too surprisingly really since 'The Punisher' IS just another comicbook/graphic novel being brought to the big screen. This will be the third time they've tried to make this particular comicbook vigilante/killer a box office success. Previous versions came out in 1990 and 2004. Maybe three will be the charm but I seriously doubt it myself as it really brings nothing new or different to the genre. Only time and ticket sales will produce the final verdict

I wasn't impressed with the teaser, and I think this still looks like a piece of shit. I don't understand why they wouldn't just let Tom Jane and Jonathan Hensleigh come back for the sequel. And Jigsaw's make-up looks pretty bad. I hope it's awesome, but look at the people involved and be realistic. Nothing about this movie can be described as a masterpiece.

Hey Ronin,

You made me laugh.
I appreciate your honesty and wit.

I admire the trailer. So did the staff around the office.

I could be wrong.

Let's wait for a second trailer.

The movie they made four years ago was good. It wasn't perfect, but I loved Thomas Jane, John Travolta, and the spaghetti western angle. For this follow-up they've downgraded in every category. Go to any comic-fan website, and they're dreading the release of this one. It's a shame.

It just looks like they've stolen bits from The Crow, Leon, Batman, jumbled them together, put some Dick Tracy makeup on, what looked like, Pacino and then rolled in a British tv-actor to push up the CGI budget.

Unimpressed.

Just watched PUNISHER it for the second time.

Yes, I liked the cinematogrpahy and the script and parts of the directing vision.

Its a great script if you want to learn how to adapt/write graphic novels/comic books.

HOW about THE PREACHER -- next one to adapt???
