Re: Avatar, Titanic: the same story?

Raddy, I found it ridiculous that after all Costner's character learned about how stupid the army folks were, he left everything he had come to value and know as home - to go talk to them some...

Re: Avatar, Titanic: the same story?

Re: Avatar, Titanic: the same story?

I see your point about similarities, but you are leaving out two enormous differences, I think. 1) The whole moral point of Avatar is: "wake up and stop destroying the planet!" It is an environmental...

Re: Heroes And Villians

Luke I am with you on Star Trek choices! My only thing was, why did they make Romulans of the future not Romulan-like at all?

Anyway, onto the question at hand:

H: Peter O'Toole as Don Quixote...

Re: writing about quirky real-life friends?

I say go for it. I am working on a script about 2 single moms who live across the street from each other - I am getting most of the material from my own life. These themes are archetypal - they are...

Re: Are we too stupid to watch a smart movie?

Very true - we do not always have the same needs when we sit down to watch something. I watch Liar Liar purely when I need to laugh!

Re: Are we too stupid to watch a smart movie?

I intend to write scripts that would make an audience think. There has to be a need out there - or we would not have this question.
I did not see the new Star Trek. I love Star Trek TNG and Voyager...

Re: Are we too stupid to watch a smart movie?

So true about the remaking of foreign films! Gosh - are we too lazy to read subtitles? For example, Shall We Dance and Wings of Desire (City of Angels).

Re: Are we too stupid to watch a smart movie?

Well, I have not seen GI Joe, but I agree with you that many movies out there are written "down" to the audience, not requiring anything from the audience. It is pure entertainment in the form of...

Mine is definitely the film Water - the moment when the older widow sees the little girl and knows what happened to her. Gosh - also when she is running beside the train trying to give the girl to...

I am reaching the end of my script (finally), and my final scene has the potential for special effects - do I just write how I want it to look (how it looks in my mind) or do I explain all...

Re: Fight Club -- the movie -- why don't they make more movies like this? "NOSTALGIC"

It is a perfectly done story of the psychological concept of shadow. I use it in my work all the time...the shadow is always subversively doing things the known personality don't have the guts to do....
