Pity The Poor US Writer

by Phil Gladwin on August 28, 2008

It’s nearly September, and nearly time for a Very Big Announcement about the Screenwriting Goldmine.

The whole place is going to be turned upside down in a most appealing way.

In the meantime, here’s a very quick entry to point you at this POV Article of mine in the excellent Creative Screenwriting magazine.

It’s all about how American screenwriters have it SO much tougher than their British counterparts.

I’d be very interested to hear your comments…

Hey Phil,

Your article starts off good, gets into it and then ends with a bang. A breath of fresh air.

Love this statement your made –

“I’m a writer because I have things I want
to say. I didn’t become a writer because of
the money, or the social side of the team
process, or to help some other…”

I think you could get more articles like these or new ones published. Check out this magazine in Toronto called “PLAYBACK” and ‘CANADIAN SCREENWRITERS”. They’re big and you never know they might publish your article(s)(s,s)(sss)($)!

Cheers

Great to see you posting on the blog again Phil…for a moment there, I thought you’d retired.
I agree. It would be a shame if we in the UK, lost the ‘faint remnants of a theatre-based respect for the dramatist’s voice.’
Nice piece…but isn’t it time for a new photo of your good self?

Thanks Ben – but Sal, retired? Never!

I’ve just been away planning Goldmine 2.

Soon to be revealed.

Like in the next week or so.
